Captains and Boats...

_When it comes to pleasing our guests and providing them with a memorable Alaskan fishing experience our efforts and expectations extend into the equipment we use to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride to and from the fishing grounds.  With this in mind, we know that there are only a few boats that can provide the safety, comfort and reliability necessary to fish the waters of Southeast, Alaska.

The “El Patrón” is a 2011 custom designed 26 foot North River Seahawk OS (off-shore) boat powered by twin 2011 Mercury 150 CXL/XL Verados.  The Seahawk OS is considered to be the top choice in patrol, commercial and military watercraft.  While on-board the “El Patrón” guests should expect tranquility, greater stability in rough waters, a dry fishing platform, and plenty of deck space to fight those double, triple, and quad hook-ups.  The interior of the “no name“ includes an enclosed cabin design with a diesel heater and Sealand porta potty to answer nature’s call.  The quality of the ride is not just in a well constructed boat, but is greatly enhanced by shock absorbing, heavy duty mariner suspension seats.  These seats  greatly reduce the discomfort of choppy waters.  The cabin is also equipped with Sirius satellite radio and state of the art Lowrance electronics:  GPS plotter, radar, sonar and VHF communication.  Above all, we fish the waters that make our clients comfortable and happy.  When conditions are such that fishing the open ocean is uncomfortable, the Prince of Whales area offers ample opportunities for clients to catch fish.  (The Prince of Whales area offers ample opportunities for clients to catch fish when conditions are such that the open ocean gets uncomfortable).

In addition to our boat, we also contract the “Makai,” the “Polar Bear” and the “Sea Merchant” throughout the summer.  We are all seasoned captains who work well with beginners, experts, and avid fisherman.  We are a proud crew and constantly strive to find ways to make your fishing experience an enjoyable one.

Fishing Tackle

     Guests should only expect the best fishing equipment available. To meet this standard we use only the finest reels and rods. For salmon mooching, we ease the work of bringing in a king salmon with the help of the Shimano Tekota 500 and 600 reels with line counters. To accompany the reels we use 8' 6" Lamiglas Salmon Mooching rods. With this rod in hand, you will be able to feel every nip and strike a fish makes, providing you the chance to feed the fish and set the hook by yourself. Our nutrient rich waters and large runs of salmon allows our salmon mooching technique to be very effective and productive. 

For halibut fishing we know how exciting it is to bring in a bottom feeder that can potentially weigh well over 300 lbs. With this in mind, we have equipped all of our Pinnacle Pacific Bay custom-built halibut rods with Avet HX RAPTOR two speed reels.YES! TWO SPEED.
